Construction Cams: Questions & Answers

Construction Cams is a service from Real View. We supply a weatherproof site camera, you mount it and plug in one cable, and we run it for you. From then on you get a live view of the site from anywhere, automatic timelapses, cinematic films of the build, daily progress highlights, a client portal your team and your client can log into, and AI-drafted social posts. It documents the build and turns it into marketing while you get on with the job.

Yes. You get a live view of the site from your phone or laptop, wherever you are. The timelapse and the progress films are produced from the same camera, but the live view is always there when you want to look at the site right now.

In your control panel. The live view, the stills, the timelapses, the highlights and the social drafts are all in one place — and you can give your team and your client access so they can watch progress without ringing you.

No. Construction cameras are private by default. Unlike our hospitality and wildlife customers, a construction site isn't broadcast to the public or listed on the Real View TV app. The footage is for you, your team, and whoever you choose to give portal access to. If you want a public live view on your own website you can enable an embed — but that's your decision, not our default.

A timelapse is the straightforward compression of time — months of build in a couple of minutes, taken from the regular stills. A cinematic film is the polished version: the same footage graded, gently moved through, and scored with music, so it's fit to put in front of investors, a client or the press.

Back to the day the camera went live. The stills are kept for the life of the project, so at any point you can build a film covering any range you choose — the whole build, a single phase, or just the week the frame went up.

From the control panel: choose the range, the system builds the video, you download it. There's no editing suite to learn and nothing to install.

Each day the camera produces short clips of the day's work on its own and puts them in your panel. Nobody has to be standing on site with a phone to catch the moment the steel goes in.

Yes. The films can carry your branding, and you choose the music from the library rather than being stuck with a default.

They're yours. The timelapses, the cinematic films and the highlights are your footage of your project — use them in tenders, on your website, in investor updates, in PR and on social. Real View doesn't sell your footage on.

The system looks at what actually happened on site and drafts ready-to-post content — the clip, and a caption written from the real progress rather than a generic template. The AI drafts; your team decides. Nothing is published until a person approves it.

No. The camera is included in the monthly plan. Real View owns it and manages it remotely, so there's no capital outlay, nothing to maintain, and nothing left on your books at the end of the build. When the job finishes, the camera comes back to us and goes out on the next one.

A mounting point with a view of the works, and a single network cable reaching it — that one cable carries both power and internet, so the camera doesn't need a socket beside it. On the connection side, roughly 2 Mbps of spare upload is enough.

Most sites do it themselves — the camera arrives configured, you mount it, plug in the cable, and it comes online on its own. If the mounting is high, awkward, or needs to move as the build progresses, managed installation is available from £299 (up to £750 depending on complexity).

Yes. It's your camera position — if the view stops making sense as the building rises, move it. It reconnects and carries on from the new position.

Yes, and most sites of any size want more than one — the elevation, the plot, the entrance. Each camera is priced the same way, per camera per month, and they all appear together in one panel.

We monitor it, and it reconnects on its own after a power cut or a broadband drop. If something is genuinely wrong we can see it remotely and deal with it. It's our hardware, so keeping it running is our job.

One plan: £249 per camera, per month. That includes the camera itself, the live view, automatic timelapses and cinematic films, daily progress highlights, the client portal, the website embed and the AI-drafted social posts. Optional managed installation is a one-off £299–£750 depending on complexity.

The camera has no microphone at all, so no audio is ever captured. It's designed to be pointed at the works rather than at people. Where a site camera takes in an area in which workers are identifiable, treat it as you would any other camera on site and signpost it as part of your normal site rules.

You take your films with you and we take the camera back. The plan is monthly, so it ends when the job ends — nothing written off, no hardware to dispose of.
